A letter to adoptive parents

My husband, Richard, and I got back from Russia with our children, Sasha, age 5 yrs., and Palina, age 2 yrs., on October 14th. I've had so many people contact me asking about my experience with Faithful Adoptions that I decided to post an open letter for all to see.

I can tell you from my personal experience that the staff at Faithful are dedicated professionals. Even though the agency itself is still in its fledgling state, the staff bring with them plenty of prior experience and expertise. Since we actually began with a different agency, I have a real reference for comparison.

Our adoptions were in serious trouble because of mistakes made and problems caused by the previous agency. Olga Grunberger was able to take over our case while it was in such a bad state that we were in real danger of losing our children forever and turn it completely around to give us the happiest ending we could have ever hoped for.

She worked tirelessly to discover the cause of each problem and find each solution. This involved doing lots of research and making countless phone calls to various agencies, departments and individuals in both Moscow and our particular region of adoption. It also happened that, while our adoptions were pending, our region underwent numerous changes within the governmental departments requiring changes in procedure, documents, etc.

This, of course, meant that we had to redo things which had already been done to meet new requirements. We would not have been aware of these changes or known what was necessary to meet the new requirements to complete our adoptions had it not been for Olga's relentless efforts. She stayed in constant contact with us through almost daily phone calls and emails, keeping us apprised of any progress or change in our case. She also kept in regular contact with us while we were in Russia to see how things were going and to advise us along the way. Because our case was so unusual and so difficult to handle and yet turned out so well, I believe it's a true testament to the capabilities of the staff at Faithful Adoptions.

I've never worked with anyone more dedicated to their work or who believed more in what they were doing. Olga has become much more than just our caseworker; she's a lifelong friend. She once told me she was afraid that maybe she let herself become too emotionally involved in her work. I told her that's what makes her so good at what she does. Unlike so many others in this profession, it's not just a job to her. She truly cares about the children and the families she works so hard for. I'm sure that's just as true for the rest of the staff.
