As soon as my husband Barry and I were married we started trying to have a family. I always dreamed of one day being a mom and I assumed it would happen quickly when I was ready. After 4 years of trying and several miscarriages, we still had not become parents.

As fate would have it, I found Faithful Charities website and realized that adoption was an answer to our prayers. Our experience was wonderful from the beginning to the end. When we started the process about a year ago, we knew very little about international adoption. We quickly learnt that Russian adoption can be difficult if you are not with a good and knowledgeable agency. We heard so many sad stories of couples who lost money and hope working with other agencies. However, we had a problem free adoption process. We worked with Valerie and she was great. She helped us with everything and reassured us when we were worried something would go wrong.

For us one of the most exciting and scary times of our adoption was our first trip to meet our daughter Kristina. Of course we could not wait to meet her, but we were also nervous about traveling so far to a region of Siberia . Thankfully before and during our trip, Valerie was right there. There was even one point that we thought were bad forgotten an important document and Valerie called at 3 am her time to let us know she would take care of the problem.

We finally arrived in the region and were able to meet our daughter the same day. When we arrived at the orphanage, Kristina was walking with her caregiver and the group of other children. Someone told her I was her Momma and she ran to me and gave me a huge hug. She hugged me so long and hard that I think she was afraid to let go. When she finally did, she sat in my lap smiling and staring at me. I have to say that I bonded instantly with Kristina. It was as if she had been my daughter forever, unfortunately, she was a bit scared of Barry. She had not been around many men at the orphanage and it took her a few weeks to warm up to him. Now, she is definitely a Daddy's girl.

We returned home with our incredible new daughter. Kristina is the most amazing child. She is so smart that after only two months she has mastered English. She is also so loving and kind. Also, like many Russian children, she is exceptionally beautiful. People often admire her and say she is an adorable little girl. Being a mom is everything I thought it would be and more.

I'm so thankful to Valerie and Faithful for helping us adopt our daughter. If not for their help, we would not be home with Krishna . We are now a family and could not he happier.
